Ooooh Abu Dhabi

Here is the famous Abu Dhabi and our dream-like tour to the mosque.  The weather was gorgeous and the tour to the mosque was just amazing!  We visited a near-by mall and ate at a Canadian restaurant that we had never heard of (didn't even know it was a Canadian chain store).  A Syrian museum staff member invited me in for a cup of tea and I spilled it.  I also broke a martini glass for an expensive drink in Dubai recently.  MW has serious eye-hand coordination problems, just so that I would let you know.

  1. More amazing shots from afar. I greatly admire your courage to explore different parts and the world and experience the cultures there.

I find your clumsiness endearing by the way.

  2. Thank you for liking these photos. I, too, think they look great even with my point-and- shoot techniques. I don't think I will ever overcome this clumsiness. I will have to live with it all throughout my life. I still can't access vox to read your blog and it is frustrating. Keep posting some art work in blogspot please. You are so talented.

  3. That's funny, I left a comment here earlier and it doesn't seem to have stayed here. I'll try again. I just said that the nicest thing about that mosque is that the people who show you around are so tolerant and welcoming to people of other religions and nationalities. It says a lot about the UAE national character. I'm glad you could visit there and enjoy your visit. Vance in Abu Dhabi ^V^

  4. Vance, thank you so much for the comment. I don't know what happened with blogspot. Sometimes it is strange. We did not have a guide. I did not know if we could have a guide that late into the evening. But I agree with you on the friendliness of the UAE people. I've made quite a few friends and my students were very loving and warm (if they don't ask for "A"s all the time.)

  6. I did not even use a tripod. Glad that they came out okay. You know Qatar was next on my list as it was so close. I could easily hopped over for a weekend. Please blog more about Doha and all.
